GRAFTON, ND (KFGO-AM) -- A Walsh County deputy sheriff is on administrative leave following the shooting of a man who was threatening suicide on a farm near Lankin southwest of Grafton.
Sheriff Lauren Wild says his office was contacted by family members of Nathan McNelis.
He says McNelis was armed with a shotgun in the farmyard. McNelis was shot by a deputy once in the upper chest. He was airlifted to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
Wild says he is expected to recover. State Crime Bureau agents are leading the investigation.
