FARGO, ND (KFGO AM) -- Fargo taxpayers can expect to see a modest cut in their property taxes under the proposed 2014 city budget.
City finance director Kent Costin says the reduction amounts to about 1.7 percent.
For the owner of a $180,000 home it will mean about $8 less in the amount of city property taxes.
The budget also includes the first cut ever in wastewater utility fee's by $3 a month.
It also funds 13 of the 20 requested positions requested by city departments, including three new police officers and four firefighters.
Mayor Dennis Walaker says it's all good but don't expect taxes to go away.
The budget could be finalized following a public hearing at the next commission meeting September 16th.
