DILWORTH, Minn. (KFGO AM) -- An international company that conducts clinical trials for global drug and bio- tech companies says it will put its first U.S. research facility in Dilworth.
Axis Clinicals, with headquarters in India, says it has signed a lease/purchase agreement on the vacant Wal-Mart store on Highway 10.
Axis spokesman Syd Mishra says the plan is still being worked on so details on the number of employees and when the facility will open won't be announced until later this fall.
He does say the employees will be doctors, nurses and other medical professionals.
Mishra says Axis looked at other locations including Miami and Houston but liked Dilworth best.
He says the 120,000 square foot former retail store is ideal for their facility.
Workers are already gutting the building's interior.
Dilworth Mayor Chad Olson says it's a good economic shot for for his community and the entire metro area.
