BISMARCK, ND. (KCND NEWS) -- As the federal shutdown lingers on, more impacts are being seen in what normally are routine government operations.
North Dakota Wheat Commission Administrator Neal Fisher says while the USDA had provided initial estimates for this year’s wheat harvest, any follow-ups are being delayed by the federal shut-down.
Fisher says farmers weren’t initially affected by the stand-off in Washington, but he says it is growing more noticeable as the shutdown carries on.
Fischer says early estimates had North Dakota coming off a strong season for Spring Wheat, but he says confirmation of those estimates will have to wait until the shutdown is over.
