Valley City, ND (KFGO-AM) A criminal complaint that identifies a Valley City State University student as the shooter in a Minneapolis murder Saturday offers detailed information about a fight that escalated into a shoot-out between two groups.
21-year old Cedric Chappell, Junior is charged with second degree murder and attempted second degree murder. Chappell was arrested on the college campus without incident Tuesday. He's accused of shooting one man in the chest outside the Blue Nile Nightclub in Minneapolis. That man died at the scene. another man was shot in the leg as he attempted to run from Chappell. Police found discharged shell casings at the scene and cars with bullet holes in them. An eyewitness identified the suspect as Chappell and later positively identified him in a line up. Questioned by police, Chappell admitted he was at the scene and heard gunshots.
Chappell, a football player at Valley City State, is being held in the Barnes County Jail in Valley City pending extradition to Hennepin County. He's been suspended from the school.
