MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO-AM) - Moorhead police are investigating the disappearance of more than $5,000 from a fast food restaurant.
Court documents say the money was taken out of a safe at the McDonald's on East Highway 10. There was no evidence of forced entry into the building, or tampering with the safe.
Detective Lt. Brad Penas says the theft appears to be an inside job. “It would lead us to believe that an employee could be responsible. That’s one place we would obviously always look in a situation like this” Penas said.
Police interviewed several employees who had access to the safe and alarm codes. A search warrant affidavit says a McDonald's manager who acted "strangely" was fired for not cooperating with police.
Charges have not been filed.
