Phoenix, AZ (KFGO-AM) Arizona court documents reveal details about the alleged plot of former Fergus Falls murder suspect Michael Alan Burris to hire a hit man from a Phoenix jail.
He's been fighting extradition from Arizona since his arrested in August to face murder charges in the 2012 killing of his nephew in Otter Tail County. The documents say Arizona authorities were tipped last month that Burris wanted to hire someone to kill his ex-wife, her boyfriend and her boyfriend's wife, because they were "messing" with his money.
In phone calls he made from jail, Burris arranged the killings with a detective posing as the hit man, including the transfer of money from his bank account to pay for the job. Investigators say the recorded calls and items found his jail cell, including a hand drawn map of where some of the victims lived, were enough to charge Burris with conspiracy to commit murder.
