Fargo, N.D. (KFGO AM) Fargo Mayor Dennis Walaker tells KFGO News he's "seriously considering" a third four year term even though the election is seven months away. He plans to make a formal announcement about his intentions by the end of the year.
Walaker says if he goes for another term, it will be his last because mayors are limited from serving more than three terms in Fargo. He'd like be in office to see groundbreaking for a new city hall, completion of Fargo's flood protection and be able see the F-M diversion project started.
City Commissioner Brad Wimmer says he is considering a run for mayor, regardless of whether Walaker decides to seek a third term and will make his decision early next year. City Commissioner Tim Mahoney said previously he might consider a bid for mayor if Walaker doesn't run.
Walaker won his previous two mayoral races by wide margins.
