MOORHEAD (KFGO-AM) - A Moorhead day care owner who's accused of watching children while she was drunk will be allowed to stay out of jail.
Jayne Cote made her first court appearance Thursday. A judge allowed Cote to remain free if she promises not to drink, operate a day care, or miss future court appearances.
Cote’s attorney, Jade Rosenfeldt, tells KFGO News that Cote is still speaking with some families of children she's cared for. “I won’t speak for the families, but some of the families who had kids in her care during this incident have expressed support for her” according to Rosenfeldt. “She’s doing well. This is obviously a very difficult time for her, so she’s just doing her best to get through this.”
Cote is charged with four counts of neglect, or endangerment of a child. Prosecutors say when police arrived at her day care last month, a breath test measured her blood-alcol level at point-one-eight.
