U.S.S. North Dakota christening ready to roll

All systems are "go" for Saturday's christening of the U.S.S. North Dakota at a shipyard in Groton, Connecticut.

Kurt Kesch, Vice President of General Dynamics Electric Boat, the contractor of the $2.6 billion Navy attack submarmine, tells kfgo news, the vessel is 94% complete.

Systems are now being tested with the ship's commanding officer and crew fully involved in the process.

The sub should be ready for sea trials in January and Hesch says if everyting goes as planned, it should be delivered to the Navy by the end of February.

Katie Fowler, the wife of Vice Admiral Jeff Fowler, a Bismarck native, will get the honors in a long standing naval tradition of christening the U.S.S. North Dakota with a bottle champagne. Fowler is the ship's sponsor.
