Judge sets $1 million bond for white supremacist

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - A judge set bail at $1 million cash for a white supremacist accused of trying to turn the small southwestern North Dakota town of Leith into an Aryan enclave.

Sixty-two-year-old Craig Cobb is being held in the Stanton jail on seven charges of terrorizing residents. A bond hearing was held Friday in Bismarck.

Cobb's court-appointed attorney, Ryan Heintz, asked for $50,000 bond. Judge Cynthia Feland agreed with the state's recommendation of $1 million cash because she considers Cobb to be a flight risk.

A handcuffed Cobb appeared by video from the Mercer County Courthouse.

Justices ruled earlier this week that there was no evidence to support holding Cobb without bail.

Cobb and 29-year-old acquaintance Kynan Dutton last appeared for a bond review on Monday in Stanton. Dutton was released.
