The former "Smokey's" steakhouse in West fargo is getting new life.
Petro Serve USA is relocating its corporate offices and other operations from Moorhead.
CEO Kent Satrang says the cooperative, which owns and supplies convenience stores in Minnesota and North Dakota, has purchased three lots on west Main Avenue including the former "Smokeys" building.
Satrang says the corporate headquarters part of the four-phase project should be completed in March or April.
The city has included the project in its renaissance zone.
Satrang says it was a difficult decision to leave Moorhead after 80 years, but he says income and unemployment taxes and worker's compensation premiums put minnesota at a distinct disadvantage for his type of business.
