The 10th Annual Cowboy Up Ride Against Cancer is this weekend in McLeod, North Dakota. Started by a small group of friends sitting around a table one night discussing how each of their families had been affected by CANCER, they decided to do something to remember their loved ones that had passed due to the disease, and give hope to others.
The thought, have a horse trail ride in their hometown through the beautiful Sand Hills of southeastern North Dakota with ALL the funds being donated to the Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo North Dakota. To help patients being treated there and their families with the "other things" not covered by insurance. Things like blankets, food snacks etc, things that can be a source of comfort.
In the past ten years, thousands have drove their horse trailers to the small town of about 50 people and camped out, rode the trail, shared meals and shared stories of hope, all while raising thousands of dollars for the Roger Maris Cancer Center. It is truly an awesome, and inspiring event.
Today, August 13, 2014, marks my 15th year of being "cancer free". Diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer at the age of 35, I have big cause to celebrate and can think of no better way than to share in the event, if not physically, then by making a donation on line.
