So Close, Yet So Far Away

by Cade

Training camps are in full swing across the NFL.  Football is so close, we can almost taste it.  The first preseason game is this Sunday as Miami faces Dallas in the, Hall of Fame game.  As we wait for the season to begin, we whet our appetite for the sport we love so much by consuming every tiny bit of info we can get our eyes and ears on.  Regardless of substance.

This time of year I find myself scouring fantasy football blogs, injury reports and meaningless info from teams I couldn't care less about.  Just the other day we heard reports from Mankato, MN that quarterback, Christian Ponder is worthless because he only completed 4 out of 12 passes.  Purple Nation has already been heard saying, Bring in the backup!  Cheese-heads are ready to throw in the towel because their second round draft pick, Eddie Lacy looked a little chunky in a picture taken at a horrendous angle .

It just goes to show how much we love this game.  We parse every bit of information like we're the GM of an NFL team.  But, give us a break.  We miss our baby.  It seems like eons since we last saw football.  In fact, it was such a long time that I bet you don't even remember who played in the Super Bowl.  I'll save you the time of looking it up.  Ravens beat the 49ers 34-31.

Keep calm.  Carry On.  The season will be here before you know it.

Until then, you can enjoy a story about the competitive long-snapping battle in Pittsburgh .
